Valentine Interiors And Design
Valentine Interiors and Design is a Tasmanian-based interior design firm specialising in creating vibrant and engaging hospitality and residential spaces. Our approach combines deep local knowledge with contemporary design principles to create functional, distinctive spaces that reflect the unique identities of our clients. Our process involves thorough research, collaborative partnerships with local artists, ongoing engagement with project participants, and a keen focus on sustainability while ensuring every detail of our work is meticulously executed. The Waggon project is an example of our ethos of creating spaces that are both functionally innovative and contextually appropriate.
Project: The Waggon
The Waggon renovation project transformed a neglected North Hobart pub into a vibrant community hub. Our design process began with extensive research into local context and potential users, informing our approach to creating adaptable, character-rich spaces. We retained 90% of the original inter-war building fabric, respecting heritage while introducing contemporary elements. Inspired by the pub's 1970s heyday and the historical concept of wagons as conduits of ideas, we collaborated with local artists to incorporate bespoke Tasmanian elements. The result is a multi-faceted space that adapts to Hobart’s shifting seasons (a key commercial requirement) while catering to diverse needs and fostering a strong sense of community.
