Designers:

NOROCK and Tom Mark Henry

NoRock is a range of self-stabilising table bases, filing their first patent in 2010. Up to 2016, NOROCK was purely a technical company interested in product design, engineering, IP and manufacturing. But it was time to sell the product – enter Claire Spalding, CEO + Chair, who with her love for interiors and background in marketing, helped develop the NOROCK brand and introduce it to the hospitality industry worldwide.

Tom Mark Henry is a leading Australian award-winning interior design studio, creating influential spaces for Australia’s design enthusiasts – enriching our environments, cultures, and the lives of our clients through the environments they inhabit. Founded in 2014 by Cushla McFadden and Jade Nottage, Tom Mark Henry has studios in both Sydney and Brisbane.

Project: NRxTMH

During the design process, Tom Mark Henry conducted thorough research and drew inspiration from the remarkable Western Australian coastline, which is the home of NOROCK. Exploring the rugged terrain, earthy tones, and textures, as well as the undulating forms where the land meets the ocean, Tom Mark Henry discovered a captivating and mysterious landscape. This research was conducted despite the challenges posed by the hard border closure Western Australia had during the pandemic. The exploration of this unique environment served as a driving force behind the development of the table bases, resulting in a successful collaboration and the creation of a range that embodies the essence of the Western Australian coast while being accessible to the market. The NRxTMH (NOROCK X Tom Mark Henry) table bases embody Tom Mark Henry's distinctive aesthetic vision and NOROCK’s patented state-of-the-art self-stabilising technology, inspired by the captivating West Australian coastline.
