Project: CryoCare - Reimagining Antibiotic Delivery in the Community

As antimicrobial resistance intensifies, hospitals face increased pressure from bed shortages and  hospital-acquired infection risks. Hospital-in-the-Home (HITH) services allow patients to receive intravenous antibiotics at home, freeing hospital beds, reducing infection risks, and improving patient outcomes. However, certain temperature-sensitive antimicrobials require chilled delivery, often resulting in prolonged hospital stays. CryoCare addresses this challenge with a patient-centered approach, enabling community-based infusions of temperature-sensitive antibiotics. The CryoCare flask maintains drug stability over 24-hour infusions through a vacuum-insulated design and embedded phase change material. Designed in response to patient feedback, CryoCare offers a comfortable and flexible solution that integrates seamlessly into patients' lives.
