Andrew Rogers for his contribution to Australian Design

Andrew Rogers FDIA is the principal of ARID and has over 25 years experience in product and industrial design and commercialisation, with more than 300 products developed and in the market. Proficient at providing solutions and all related services for manufacturing industries Australia-wide, with a growing number of international customers, Andrew is a multi award winning, highly respected designer and leader in our industry.

He defines his practice thus "...I am an industrial designer, who is qualified by training, technical knowledge, experience and visual sensibility to determine the materials, mechanisms, shape, colour, surface finishes and decoration of objects which are reproduced in quantity by the industrial processes..." 

Andrew is a current DIA SA NT Councillor and was awarded a DIA Fellowship in 2013. He has been actively involved in supporting and championing Australian design and designers over many years, serving as a Good Design Ambassador, an advisor for the Australia China Business Council, and as an Australian Liaison Officer to China for Icsid (now WDO). His work combines the realms of art, science and engineering to demonstrate how the fully implemented industrial design process adds real value to any product. 

ARID design continues to be recognised for their timely and necessary products developed for a range of clients across the areas of architectural, medical, educational, electronic, household and commercial products. Key recent projects recognised by the DIA and other awards programs include the Embarr Argus Bush Fire Protection System, Enseal Wine Packaging and Entrust technology system and The Ned's Head FDA Approved Face Shields just to name a few.

Andrew is an exemplary designer and advocate for the profession, demonstrating through his contribution how good design can make positive change for the long term to the wider community. His philosophy and approach to design is expressed in an impressive portfolio of enduring solutions that connect technological innovation and creativity, and set the standard for our industry. 

The DIA presents the President's Award to Andrew Rogers FDIA, for his ongoing commitment to advancing the value of Australian design.
