The DIA's third round collaboration with misq, an Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and digital artist, will showcase a graphic brand identity and open interpretation of the DIA logo for the DIA - Awards program in 2024.

“For the 2024 DAA awards, I chose a straightforward approach, concentrating on reimagining the shapes of the DIA logo with a fresh representation and quality. By rendering these shapes in 3D with a tangible, handmade appearance, and capturing them with simple movements, I aimed to evoke the sense of an archived artifact or something precious.”

The DIA has had a long-standing history of commissioning designers and artists to interpret its identity. Communication Design, one of the DIA membership disciplines, has been chosen to direct DIA communications through visuals since 1961. Latitude Group has designed the current DIA logo and in collaboration conceived the DIA - Awards concept. This year's awards commission with misq facilitates a new cross-disciplinary rendition and celebrates the award categories ‘Place, Use and Interact’.

misq is the founder of misq creative, a 3D digital visualization and design firm based in Sydney. The brand name misq stands for 'miscellaneous,' symbolising the limitless possibilities and creative directions - from initial inspiration to the final product. misq defies strict definitions; like a miscellaneous folder on your desktop, it encompasses items that don't fit into neat categories but are also too valuable to discard. These archived files hold timeless, ineffable emotional connections, reflecting misq creative's mission to uncover timeless, undefined design.
