The BMW Group + QUT Design Academy is a leading design hub for advanced learning, research and special projects. We aim to foster design excellence, explore knowledge horizons, and advance cutting-edge technologies through the application of emerging skills like high-end visualisation, digitalisation and AI workflows. Our goal is to position design and creativity as indispensable skills for the world’s best organisations. Founded by Rafael Gomez (QUT), Jimmy Nassif (BMW Group) and Dylan Sheppard (BMW Group), the academy employs a talented team of designers including Jordan Domjahn, Epi Pereira, and Tim Lim, with expertise in industrial design, high-end visualisation, and digital skills.


Project: Digitalisation for Sustainability

The BMW iFACTORY aims to completely revolutionise automotive manufacturing for the future. iFACTORY tackles the complex challenges of automotive production and will set new standards in sustainability and competitiveness with flexible, efficient, green and digital manufacturing technologies. We have contributed to this ambitious goal across various digital-based projects including 3D Asset Creation, SORDI, Green Physics AI, and Point Cloud AI Pipeline. We have applied advanced design skills, developed bespoke digital workflows, utilised AI capabilities, and sophisticated visualisation techniques to generate effective outcomes for BMW Group that positively contribute to the iFACTORY strategy.
