Award of Merit:
Studio Massive with Latitude Group for Purple Pit
Studio Massive is an award winning interior design studio based in Melbourne. We bring together branding and the built environment in an integrated design approach that reinforces the values of organisations, while leaving a lasting positive mark on their culture and clients. We search for outcomes that engage and evolve conventions, focusing on emotive human interaction that connect on an experiential level. With our unique, in-depth knowledge of branding, complex design systems, scalable outcomes, and experience strategy, Studio Massive takes a lateral approach to design, providing clear direction for precise execution and delivery.
Latitude Group is an integrated design studio. With a multi disciplinary team at the heart and strength of our studio, we believe in cross pollination between disciplines to best achieve engaging and timeless design outcomes. Our client base provides us with broad exposure that enables us to continually build on our knowledge and provides industry insights, we use this to better articulate a brand offering.
About the Project
Situated beneath Reine and La Rue at the junction of Queen and Collins St Melbourne, and in the basement of Australia's finest example of English Gothic Revival architecture, Purple Pit is a subterranean space transformed into a Five Star Dive Bar.
The concept, dubbed "Harry's Bar goes Punk," is a blend of design contradictions, juxtaposing brutalist elements with luxurious textures.
